Heather Menicucci is the author of Let's Get Primitive: The Urban Girl's Guide to Camping (May 2007, Ten Speed Press), based on her original article for BUST magazine. She has given presentations on digging camping latrines, chatted with MTV Canada about sex in the great outdoors, and fielded camping questions from Blueprint Radio listeners. Heather has always been a big fan of all things DIY which is how she gravitated to Howcast.com, a new how-to video startup, where she manages the Emerging Filmmakers Program. She has produced a range of film and video projects, including award-winning independent shorts, corporate video for brands like Converse and Hewlett-Packard, and an Aerosmith documentary. She is currently also working on a web project and video documentary, 1 Bite 7 Days, based on a proverb that says for every new food we eat, we gain seven days of life. She lives in Brooklyn, New York, but tries to pitch her tent as often as possible.
